The Out of Office Girl

The cards are stacked against Alice when she arrives in Sicily because her luggage has been lost so she had no clothes apart from those she stands up in. Sam does not want Luther's book to be a warts and all autobiography because he doesn't think it will do his client's career any good. Alice almost feels like giving up but manages to talk herself into staying put and at least attempting to persuade Luther to buckle down to the task in hand. The story, narrated by Alice, is entertaining and amusing reading. This is an idea summer book to be read by the pool while reclining on a sun lounger and with a Campari and soda to hand. It is not meant to be great literature but it is enjoyable reading for an idle afternoon. The characters are believable and Alice especially is all too human and accident prone. I found I had to keep reading to make sure everything worked out for her in the end.
