World War II Infantry Tactics: Company and Battalion v. 2

Drawing on contemporary training documents and veterans' descriptions, this book examines the specific tactics used by the men who inspired 'Band of Brothers' and 'Saving Private Ryan'. The tactics used by US, British and German troops are compared and discussed, and the evolution of new weapons and tactics in response to changing fighting conditions in Europe is traced. This volume covers the typical operations of an infantry battalion, and examines how they used support weapons such as medium MGs, mortars and anti-tank weapons. Infantry co-operation with artillery and tank battalions is also covered, in this second of two books focusing on World War 2 infantry tactics.

About the Author
Dr Stephen Bull is the Curator of the Museum of Lancashire in Preston, which incorporates the collections of several local regiments. Born in 1960, he graduated from the University of Wales with a BA (Hons) in history in 1981, and obtained his doctorate from University College, Swansea. For several years he worked at the National Army Museum. He has written numerous articles for specialist journals, including a number on the weapons and tactics of World War I. Peter Dennis was born in 1950 and, having been inspired by contemporary magazines such as 'Look and Learn', studied illustration at Liverpool Art College. He has since contributed to hundreds of books, predominantly on historical subjects. He is a keen wargamer and modelmaker.
