US Armor Camouflage and Markings World War 2

While there has been a large amount of material written about the markings and camouflage of German armored and soft-skinned vehicles in World War II, little has been written concerning the similar treatment of American vehicles during the war. For the most part what has been written recently has been done by American author Steven Zaloga in a series of modeling and historical articles in several magazines, along with an earlier book on the subject. It is indeed unfortunate that American armor and vehicles have been so poorly served, since there are numerous examples of interesting and unique camouflage patterns and markings from every major theater where American vehicles saw service.
