Description

So rich and varied is John Glover's performance of these classic horror stories that listeners might be forgiven for thinking they're hearing a large cast. Rats crawl around the cellar of an abandoned textile mill, and a mechanical ironing machine eats anyone who draws near. A lawn service offers eerie employees, and a Maine village hides hideous secrets.

As each piece ends with appropriate musical framing and another begins with new sound effects, one must shake off the creeps from the earlier story and refocus while heading into the next. Only in "Gray Matter," in which he fails miserably at adopting a Maine accent, does Glover falter. Every other story in the collection is a winner.
