The Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians is an encyclopedic dictionary of music and musicians and is regarded as the most authoritative reference source on the subject in the English language. Along with the German-language MGG, it is the largest Western music reference work. Initially released through the vision and toil of George Grove, it was subsequently edited by Stanley Sadie and is the leading music reference source in English for both encyclopedic information and bibliographies.

 

Notes from me:

pdf is far more better than html. pdf is easier to store, to read and save time for opening and virus scanning. Besides pdf is editable, of cource, prerequisite i, you have something like adobe standard or professional.

These pdfs are produced by adobe standard 8. So it is possible that your adobe reader below 8 will pop a window up, saying that your reader version is blahblahblah. Ignore him.

The source is the updated html version from emule. Pictures are contained, which is an improvement of the old html version. There are still some pictures missing.  But they are less than 10, nothing significant. I don't think they are just the pics you want to see.

Two articles were lost in the updated version. But I have fetched them from the old html version. So far I haven't noticed any missing article.
